Today, Kensington Palace shared two official photographs to mark Harry and Meghan’s engagement.
The photographs were taken by Alexi Lubomirski earlier this week at Frogmore House, Windsor. Lubomirski is a polish photographer and former assistant to Mario Testino.
The photographer uploaded the following statement to his Instagram page:
A huge thank you to His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Ms Markle, for allowing me to take their official engagement portraits. Not only was it an incredible honour, but also an immense privilege to be invited to share and be a witness to this young couple’s love for each other. I cannot help but smile when I look at the photos that we took.
A few hours later, the Palace released a third photo, with the following message:
Thank you so much for all of the wonderful comments following the release of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle’s engagement photographs. The couple are so grateful for the warm and generous messages they have received during such a happy time in their lives. As a way to say thank you, they have decided to share this candid photograph from the day of their portrait sittings directly with all of you:
Meghan’s outfits in the photos:
In two of the photos, Meghan is wearing a couture gown by British designer label Ralph & Russo.
The Daily Mail reports that the gown is from Ralph and Russo’s autumn/winter 2016 collection and it retailed for a “staggering £56,000” (roughly $75,000). The newspaper described the piece as follows:
The gown features a cascading tulle skirt complete with an entirely sheer bodice decorated with intricate leaf embellishment.
In 2013, Ralph and Russo became the first British brand in nearly 100 years to be nominated by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, described by the Times as “fashion’s most exclusive club: the Paris haute couture scene”.
TIn the other photo, Meghan is wearing a sweater by Victoria Beckham. Formally a pop singer in the five-piece British girl band Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham ventured into fashion and launched her eponymous label in 2008. By 2011, Beckham’s line was a regular fixture at New York Fashion Week.
Over on Twitter, Elizabeth from @MeghansFashion suggests the Royal-to-be could be wearing one of the following Victoria Beckham sweaters. The first is cashmere. The second is a cashmere and silk blend.
